Working at Heights Training
RTSC, in partnership with BEST Safety Training, offers Working at Heights Training. This 8 hour, CPO Approved course will provide workers who are exposed to the hazard of falling with adequate knowledge about fall hazards and general safety practices to work safely at heights, and provide workers who use personal fall protection equipment with sufficient knowledge about its purpose and use.
The course will look into protection methods and measures on different levels and will help workers understand the necessity of evaluating which protection methods are best used for their working situation. The following list covers the course modules:
- Legal responsibilities for fall protection (employer, supervisors, workers)
- Fall arrest techniques
- Connecting devices
- Fines and penalties for noncompliance
- Fall restricting and safety net systems
- Fall hazards (e.g., pendulum effect, bottoming out)
- Basic hazards and controls
- Lifelines and lifeline hazards
- Emergency rescue procedures
- Fall prevention techniques
- Anchor systems
- Emergency rescue principles
- Travel restraint systems
- Harnesses, lanyards, shock absorbers
- Basic ladder, scaffold, elevated work platform, bump line, warning barrier, & guardrail fall protection techniques
The course covers both basic theory and practical modules through multimedia, classroom, group activities and hands on use of equipment. Our courses are fast-paced, energetic, entertaining and incorporate various adult learning principles to ensure the participants enjoy and retain the material covered.
